Suicide Kings Loot System:  The Team Way

The Team uses a modified Suicide Kings model originally developed for World of Warcraft. The version can be found by following this link: http://www.wowwiki.com/Suicide_Kings.  Suicide Kings is, in essence, a bit like waiting in line, or a rolling list.

Specifics of the System

The current lists that the Team maintains can be found at http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p5DRLSN0yT6fbDLkYCynlXA .  The list is public for all Team members and alliance members, even guests to view.  Editing of the list is handled by only Team Officers and designated Raid Leaders.

We will have an entry on each list per account instead of per character. This means that bidding on items for alts is perfectly acceptable. Once your character is on the list, it's on there forever.

While the list as a whole can appear rather large, bear in mind that you will only ever be, at most, the 12th person in line (Unless we run Helegrod with the list active), most of the time we will be running 6-mans, which means that if you are last, you are 6th.  The list will move in accordance to the active list.  What this means is that only those that are involved in the run will move when someone burns.  This will be explained in greater detail later on.

Initial Setup and Continued Maintenance

The first time someone goes on a SK run they will be placed on the bottom of the active list.   What this means is that

For any subsequent runs, we will add new folks into to the bottom of the list (new change for Moria).

Base Mechanics

Whenever an item is dropped that is relevant to a particular "list," the person at the top of the list gets the option to grab the item. Should they elect to pass, priority then goes to the next person on the list unless they pass, and so on.

Whenever a person burns "priority" (as we will call their ability to take an item), they get bumped to the bottom of the list...relative to the current group. This is the part that can be a bit confusing, but the idea is that anybody who is not present in the raid has their spot "frozen." Don't worry about the management of this, as we'll take care of it, but here's a few examples:

Scenario: We have 12 people coming out of a 15-man list. The person at #1 is not present, neither is the person at position #7. Everybody else is in order. Here's how it looks:

Master List Active List
Not attending person 1
  Attending person 2
  Attending person 3
  Attending person 4
  Attending person 5
  Attending person 6
Not attending person 7
  Attending person 8
  Attending person 9
  Attending person 10
  Attending person 11
  Attending person 12
Not attending person 13
Not attending person 14
Not attending person 15

An item drops that can be obtained via priority, and the person at the top of the list wants to grab it. In doing so, they drop to the bottom of the list relative to the present players, which means they actually drop to spot #12 instead of spot #15.

In addition, everybody moves up 1 position, but they skip over position #7, as that person's spot is maintained since they are not there.

Now the list looks like this:

Master List Active List
Not attending person 1
  Attending person 3
  Attending person 4
  Attending person 5
  Attending person 6
  Attending person 8
Not attending person 7
  Attending person 9
  Attending person 10
  Attending person 11
  Attending person 12
  Attending person 2
Not attending person 13
Not attending person 14
Not attending person 15

Miscellaneous

1. If everybody in the list passes on an item, the item is then open to a /roll. No priority is burned on items that are /rolled on.
2 Helegrod trophies are now under the same rules as the Rift. This update is extremely cool, as now neither the Barter items nor the armour rewards themselves are BoA. We don't care what you do with it...sell it, trade it, give it to Stanford, whatever ;]

If you guys have any questions, please let us know. We feel this is the best system for where we are at this point in time.

Team Specific SK Modifications

With the current situation regarding gear and loot drops from instances, some list rule adjustments are necessary to ensure a fair chance for all to be rewarded for their efforts. Some restraints and some leniencies are put into place to allow for a more structured loot system to foster a fair chance for all.

The following potential situations among others have been taken into consideration with the current list changes.
The Reasons :

A. Players with a large number of alts may burn on a number of class-specific items that players with no alts may have a rare chance to obtain.

B. Similar to the above situation, some classes are needed less in the current instances and may have less opportunities to obtain needed gear than other classes. Some classes are more abundant than others, and obtaining gear for an alt character that rarely gets to attend may be difficult at times.

C. Players with the bottom spot in the active list could repeatedly burn priority on any item if everyone above passed on the item and they would not move on the list, and it would prevent an open roll for that item. This could present a situation where the player on the bottom of the list could burn on items without penalty, and no list movement would occur.

D. “Wardens” have been inappropriately named since the launch of Moria. A movement has started to call them by their true name- the “Waden”. The loot list will reflect the true name.

While not every scenario has a perfect answer, we feel that these changes will provide the best loot-handling for the current game environment. Additionally, Whhadens will be correctly represented going forward.

Looting Part 1 - Burning

1. All Bind on Acquire items will follow the pre-existing loot rules- with one exception:

· Players at the bottom of the list who burn priority on an item (for items that those above them declined their opportunity to burn) will now move down in the global list position rather than not impacting the list at all. More details on this scenario to follow.

2. Non-BOA items (such as legendary items and other tradeable items that are bind on equip) will have the following ruleset applied:

· All items will be available for open burn, with the token system for the first age class items and level 65 second ages being all crafted we do not feel the need for class priority anymore.

3. All players present for the raid will be given the opportunity to burn their priority spot for an item.

4. If no players in the encounter decide to burn on an item, Alts present for the raid may have an opportunity to burn for a tradeable item. Specific restrictions will be applied to this scenario. Alts must be present and accounted for during the raid and available for the duration of the raid in order to be allowed a chance to burn. This is to allow for players who have planned their time and participated as much as they were able (such as time keepers in the Watcher) but were not able to enter the instance. They've given up their time as well and may be allowed a chance to burn their spot on an item.

5.  If only one player in the instance needs the item that has dropped and is a burnable item, we will not force a burn for that one player unless he/she wishes to burn.  Exceptions to this may be made in raids for the armor gems/barter items.

Looting Part 3 - Roll

Open greed roll. All players interested in rolling on an item may do so.   There is no restrictions on the greed roll.  If you want a specific class item, you should be prepared to burn on it.  Once it is past the class specific and open burn stages, there is no guarantee that you'll get the item, and no restrictions on what the winner does with the item.   So, take a chance, move the list, and burn on that legendary item if it is for your class and you have some interest.

Looting Part 4 - Bottom Spot Burning

The bottom of the active list is allowed to burn on an item, but they will incur movement in the list depending on the following situations.

1. If nobody else burns during the duration of the group/event, the bottom spot that has burned will be moved down the list as follows:*

Raid: After the list is 'buttoned up' the bottom spot that has burned will move down the entire list six(6) spots, thus invoking a similar burn 'suicide' to anyone higher on the active list.*

6-man Group: After the list is 'buttoned up' the bottom spot that has burned will move down the entire list three(3) spots, thus invoking a similar burn 'suicide' to anyone higher on the active list.*

2. If others are going to burn, the bottom spot that has burned will remain on the bottom and the list will move as though it had one(1) less person. For example in a 6-man instance, the bottom spot has burned on boss 1, on boss 2 the top spot want to burn, instead of dropping to the bottom, the top spot will drop to the 5th person's spot and the other 4 will move as normal. This will constitute both the burn 'suicide' for the bottom spot burner.*

Looting Part5 - Items that will be available for burn

Some items are more desirable than others, but we do follow the general guidelines that rare teal drops will be Master Looted and available for burning before going to an open roll.  Below is a list of instances where we will Master Loot, instances not listed will be Master Looted on the raid leader's discretion:

  • Fil-Gashan:  Final Boss (Pocket Item)
  • Skumfil:  Left Side final boss (Cloak), Right side Final Boss and the set of bugs boss (Pocket Item)
  • Stairs:  Final Boss (Many rare drop teals)

  • 16th Hall:  Final Boss (Multiple Teals)
